Documentation
Everything needed to install One Second Search, activate a licence and keep it updated.
Installing the plugin
- Download the latest build from your account.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin and pick the zip.
- Activate it. WooCommerce must already be active.
Building the search index
Open Settings → One Second Search and press Generate Products JSON. The plugin walks the catalogue once and writes a compact index into your uploads folder. Everything a visitor types after that is filtered in their browser — the index is only fetched when search is actually opened.
Choose which post types the index covers on the same screen. Products, pages, posts and custom post types can all be searched together.
Activating your licence
- Copy your key — it is in the order email and on your account page. It looks like
OSS-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. - Go to Settings → One Second Search Licence.
- Paste the key and press Activate licence.
Pro features and automatic updates switch on immediately. The site re-checks the licence once a day in the background.
Moving a licence between sites
Each key covers a fixed number of domains. To free one up, either press Deactivate this site on the plugin’s licence screen, or remove the domain from the licence on your account page. Deleting the plugin releases the seat automatically.
Staging and production count as separate domains. www. and http/https variants of the same host do not — they share one seat.
Updates
With an active licence, new versions appear under Dashboard → Updates like any other plugin. Without one, no update is offered at all — the plugin will not nag you.
When a licence expires
The plugin keeps working and the index stays intact. Pro features and updates switch off; the free feature set carries on. Renewing re-enables everything on the next check, or immediately if you press Re-check now.
If our licence server is unreachable, Pro keeps running for 14 days on the last known answer. Our downtime is not your problem.
Troubleshooting
“That licence key was not recognised”
Check for a stray space at either end, and that you copied the whole key including the OSS- prefix.
“This licence already covers its maximum sites”
Release a domain from your account page, or move to a larger plan.
Search finds nothing after adding products
Regenerate the index. On Pro this happens automatically whenever a product is saved or deleted.
